Motion graphics is basically a process where you give a motion to a graphic, simple right? Imagine you want to give a motion to a text or a design asset, for example your logo. You can set these assets to motion, for let's say 2 seconds, by setting their start position on and then setting their end position on x and/or y axis (when working in 2D composition).
Motion Graphics were first used in the 1950s by film studios to move their film titles. Still to this day the film opening credits are used. However, they are also widely used in TV, broadcasting, across social media channels, in websites but mostly in explanatory videos.
When I joined one of the biggest corporations in the world, I quickly realized that there is a need for effective and clear communication. I was part of a team who managed a service for customers from all of the world. In order to improve our internal and external communication I started developing a intranet website where I could talk about the complex ideas of the service I've managed. The goal was to find a way to describe complex ideas in Layman Terms, meaning the easiest way possible.
Keep it simple, so everybody could understand. Adobe After Effect and Adobe Premiere Pro came in handy, I wrote scripts, produced, shot b-rolls, record voice overs, and edit the explanatory videos. The work I've made was well received and we were able to speed up our workflow bust mostly we helped our customers to better understand the complex ideas they were facing. It gave me the opportunity do educate my customers and coworkers I was working with.
“After Effects has dramatically affected the digital editing industry by increasing the quality and frequency of visual effects in entertainment… There’s nothing that can’t be visualized on screen now the only limitation is one’s imagination and knowledge of software such as After Effects.”
Nate Garcia, Digital Editing Instructor at New York Film Academy
